Who the SYM and the Echo are

The SYM are the onboard artificial intelligence of Maze 3D. The Echo is the traveller’s past: it runs beside you and tries to hold you back.

It is not an enemy. If you get there first, you join together in the light.

The SYM

Coloured half-spheres, like the pawns of the arcade cabinets in Maze 3D. Matched in a row, they crack the slabs beneath them.

The Echo

Your past, in grey. It takes a step with every move you make, towards the same light: you must get there first.

How to play

Level 2 of the Crust: matches, a rainbow SYM and the race to the light.

Swap two neighbouring SYMA move counts if it makes a row of three or more of the same colour, or a 2×2 square.
Break the grateUnder the grid lie the slabs: match right above them to crack them. Once they are all broken, the grate gives way and you drop one floor.
Race the EchoWith every move the Echo takes a step towards the light. The best combos hold it still: which ones, you’ll find out by playing.
Bigger lead, more starsYou win if you reach the light before it. The stars count the steps it still needed.
Checked leaderboardsWith the optional Google sign-in, the same as Maze 3D, you join the overall and per-level leaderboards: the biggest lead wins. The server replays your game before it records it.
